What is Screen Sensation?
We were sent the Screen Sensation 12×12 Kit to try. Included in the box was…
- Frame, featuring 24cm square aperture.
- Squeegee, precisely sized to the screen ensuring you get an even coverage across the whole of your design.
- Palette Knife, perfectly shaped to allow you to transfer your chosen ink directly from the Ink Pot or Mixing Bowl to the surface of your screen.
- 10 Wooden Mixing Tools, which allow you to thoroughly mix a range of colours of your choice by combining different ink colours.
- Mixing Bowl shaped to allow you to quickly mix and thin down your inks and then transfer to the surface of your screen. The bowl also folds flat to minimise storage room.
How you use the Screen Sensation
Stir your chosen ink and place an even layer across the top edge of your screen. Holding the squeegee at a 45-degree angle drag the ink down across the screen maintaining an even pressure and then scoop up any excess ink and return back to the pot.
Open up your Screen Sensation and admire your first print – ours was the ‘You’re Pawesome’ print above. Spoiler: This is the moment you will totally fall in love with the process and start hunting around the house for items to print on to – you have been warned!
Once you have mastered the basics (which literally only takes one print), You can start mixing it up a bit. You can use any of the screens that don’t have lettering or numbering on them either way around to reverse the design. You can mix colours together to produce multi-tone effects. You can mask off parts of the screen to print different colour layers or to use just elements of the design. The kit really is adaptable. To see more details about the kit or to watch videos of it in action please check out the Screen Sensation website.
What we Thought!
Cleaning is simple, just rinse in cold water with the ink being safe to wash down the drain. We haven’t actually got any on our clothes yet (which is a miracle in itself!), but until the ink is heat set, it should wash easily out of clothes. We will share our screen printing a new wardrobe adventure with you and test out how the ink washes before and after being heat set then.
The Screen Sensation kit is available from Crafting.co.uk and costs £89.99. With the inks retailing at £7.99 and the screens ranging from £12.99 to £17.99 for the various sizes. My regular readers will know that it is rare for me to promote crafts that involve a financial outlay, but in the case of the Screen Sensation, I feel the system really does offer excellent value for money. This is not a toy but a handy piece of equipment that should last for years and has so much potential. You could even start a little home business using this piece of kit, and it will undoubtedly take care of all your card, wrapping paper and present needs.
Screen Sensation have kindly offered us a unique discount code so that you can enjoy 25% of any Screen Sensation purchase at Crafting.co.uk. To take advantage of this offer enter SSBL25-FL7UI at the checkout!
Disclosure: We were sent the Screen Sensation Home Screen Printing System for the purpose of this review.

Hi Can you use any printing ink with this kit.
Hi Diane. I’ve only used the screen sensation inks with the kit so I’m not sure if other brands of ink would damage the screens – I guess it would depend what they are made of. Sorry I cant be more help!
I absolutely love the screen sensation kits, I have made some T-shirt’s for my niece but I can’t find anywhere that tells me what temperature to set the ink so it’s washable and what temperature it can be washed on. Can anyone help me out please x
Hi Rachel It’s so easy to use isn’t it! Here is the link to the FAQs https://www.screensensation.com/faqs/
It says “How do I stop the inks from washing out of fabric?
Once the inks have dried on your fabric, they can be heat set with a regular iron for at least 2 minutes. Always follow the ironing recommendation for your fabric to avoid damaging the material with heat.”
Hope that helps and happy printing :)
Oh wow this looks awesome! My son is designing his own T Shirts – I wonder if the quality of this is good enough to print and sell? Kaz
I really think it is Kaz. We plan to print a few T-shirts and tote bags and try them at our local craft market where my daughter has been selling home-made soaps.
OMG I have fallen in love with those butterflies! I need this in my life. Now.
They’re gorgeous aren’t they Amy :) They make a huge range of screens including lots of botanical elements which is what I’ve got my heart set on for our next one although my daughter is desperate for a unicorn one!
The results look gorgeous. I’ve always wanted to try screen printing. It would be lovely to be able to make some unique designs.
Thanks Frankie – we are delighted with our prints. There’s lots of ready made screens to choose from or alternatively you can make your own with a specially designed kit so the system really is versatile :)
Oh how cool, I’m sure many craftsy people are going to love this!
It’d make a great gift for anyone into making things Vanessa, its really versatile :)
That looks amazing! I am not a crafty sort as I am always worried about messing things up but that looks really fun and simple to use.
It is super easy to use Laura and the results look super professional – I really am impressed by it!
That’s so cool that you can do that at home and I’m impressed at how easy it looks to use x
I was amazed at how simple it is to use Rhian, I definitely expected it to be much more fiddly!
Oh wow! I’ve always wanted to have a go at screen printing, since hand printing my children’s legging a few years ago. Must pick this up and give it a go, thank you :)
It’s very cool isn’t it Helen. We’ve got a whole pile of leggings and T-shirts to print up over half-term and we’re printing tote bags for the teachers end of year presents too!
That looks awesome! I reckon my kids would have so much fun with it. Mind you it brings back some awful memories of high school art class and the number of attempts to get the picture right!
I have a few of those memories too Jenny lol The screen sensation is ridiculously easy to use and I was so impressed that we didn’t get any smudging or failed prints!
This looks amazing! I’ve always wanted to try screen printing but it’s quite a pricey craft to try out locally!
I’ve always been put of by the price and how fiddly cutting your own screens must be. We’re blown away by the results we are getting with the Screen Sensation and absolutely love it :)
